Starscream Limited Hit with Penalty Threat Over Illegal Gambling Offer
The Netherlands Gambling Authority (Ksa) isn’t exactly handing out gold stars this week. Instead, they've slapped Starscream Limited with a penalty order for offering illegal online gambling to Dutch players.
According to the Ksa, Starscream Limited was letting players sign up, deposit money, and gamble freely on three websites — rantcasino.com, sugarcasino.com, and allstarzcasino.com — without doing anything to block access from the Netherlands. That's a big no-no under Dutch law, where the market is regulated specifically to protect players.
Now, Starscream Limited has been ordered to immediately shut down these operations for Dutch users. If they don’t, they’re staring down a penalty of €280,000 per week, capped at a maximum of €840,000. (Ouch.)
The Ksa pointed out that "no technical measures" were in place to prevent Dutch players from jumping in — something regulators have made crystal clear is mandatory.
For anyone keeping track: the Netherlands' regulated gambling system is designed to make sure players aren’t left to the wolves. When companies ignore these rules, the Ksa doesn't just wag its finger — it moves quickly with penalties and, in some cases, fines for the period the illegal games were live.
The message here? If you're running an unlicensed gambling operation and think you can quietly slip into the Dutch market, think again.
